ABOUT ME

My name is Priscilla Orta-Hernandez, and this is my online portfolio. Here, I have laid out my academic and professional works as a writer and editor.

I started my creative journey at the University of Central Florida, where I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. 

​

I worked at Universal Orlando Resort for 7 years in the Attractions Department and in Volcano Bay's Operations and Technical Base. In my time there, I innovated guest service incentives, created flyers for Team Members, and rewrote and reorganized the Standard Operating Procedure.

When the pandemic closed the theme parks, I went into auto-insurance. I felt, however, that my skills and passion in English, writing, and reading were wasted here, and thus left to start my teaching career.

During this time, I published my first children's book "The Forest Jade," where it is currently on sale on Amazon for the public to purchase. It is a proud accomplishment for me to be able to publish this work and share my passion for writing with the world.

I first became a teacher at Ridge Community High School in Davenport, Fl. I found my passion here, working with kids and passing on my knowledge as an English major. I obtained my Statement of Eligibility then my Florida 3/5 year Temporary Certification. I am currently working on obtaining my Professional Certification so that I may be able to continue my passion in this field.

I will continue to read and write, as these are my passionate hobbies that I always persist on the side.
